Who we treat

Our clinical neuropsychologist, Aimee, sees adolescents, adults and older persons who may be experiencing difficulties with cognition (thinking), behaviour and emotion.

She has a particular specialisation in the assessment and diagnosis of dementia, and has expertise in providing decision-making capacity assessments.

She also sees individuals who have experienced neurological insult such as concussion and traumatic brain injury, as well as other acquired brain injuries (e.g. stroke, tumours, hypoxic injury), and provides diagnostic opinion and recommendations about care management.

Assessments

The provision of diagnostic assessment as well as recommendations for rehabilitation purposes are central to the service. Aimee is also a part of The Rehab Team, a multidisciplinary group of clinicians providing high-quality rehabilitation care to patients post injury.

Commonly, clients with mental health issues and/or disability may be referred for an assessment to characterise their cognitive function for the purpose of NDIS goals, or to provide specific recommendations for their care.

What does a Neuropsychological assessment involve?

A neuropsychological assessment comprises a clinical interview as well as neurocognitive tasks to examine cognitive, psychological and emotional functioning.

A follow-up review session is scheduled soon after  the assessment to discuss results and to provide individually-tailored recommendations for ongoing care.

In some cases, ongoing sessions can be provided for the purpose of supporting the person with neuropsychological injury in their day to day functioning, or to adjust to the situation they are facing.
